Oh wow, where has the time gone since my last blog post in April? Here's a little round up of what's been happening since then.
Spring turned to Summer.
The studio was buzzing with online orders and jewellery commissions for summer weddings and engagements.
I went to Craft Festival in Devon. I met some lovely new clients, some existing clients which I hadn't met face to face and caught up with lots of makers and friends, all while chatting and selling contemporary jewellery. Oh yes, and squelched in a little bit of mud!
It was then straight back to the jewellery workbench and more making in the sunshine.
My two nephews joined me to work on their own projects. Tom has completed his Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award, part of which is to learn a new skill. He is already a pretty amazing silversmith, so we came up with a project for a brooch that involved all sorts of complex and intricate skills.
James needed to make a silver spoon. He had inherited a family sugar bowl and spoon, however the spoon was stolen before he got it. So... he made a new one, even better than the first.
I worked on a variety of lovely up-cycing pieces too.
Summer has been really quite lovely, although our corner of Herefordshire never gets "quite" as hot or as much sunshine as other parts of Herefordshire, or the rest of the south (on a hill and high up!). I'm not complaining; its gorgeous just how it is!
So much inspiration and colour around at the moment...
I love walking the dog through the fields of cut grass and freshly baled hay, it is the sight and smell of summer for me.
The office dog had a serious knee operation in early summer. However we are starting to build up her exercise again and I get to walk thought the fields and woods and take all sorts of arty photographs, which I don't seem to do without the dog.
Anyway, perhaps that enough for now, back to the bench and to finish a pair of earrings with these little 2mm diamonds set into 18ct gold tubes.
